DIGITAL PROJECTION INTERNATIONAL PROVIDES CUTTING-EDGE DLP® PROJECTION TECHNOLOGY TO SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

ATLANTA, GA, (January 17, 2007) –Digital Projection International (DPI), an Emmy® Award-winning manufacturer of high-performance projection systems, announced that for the ninth consecutive year, DPI will be the official provider of digital projectors to the Sundance Film Festival.  The annual event will be held January 18th – 28th in Park City, Utah.

The Sundance Film Festival will feature screenings on a wide variety of DPI’s diverse line of projectors.  The annual event will showcase a full range of digital films, on screens ranging from 7 feet to 33 feet wide.  For the larger screens, DP’s 3-chip DLP® LIGHTNING 40HD-T and HIGHlite Pro Series projectors will be utilized.  For medium-sized venues, DP’s 3-chip TITAN series will be used.  The company’s 1-chip dVision projectors will be employed in press areas.

DPI began its relationship with the Sundance Film Festival in 1999 and ever since, the use of the company’s DLP® displays has steadily increased at every event.  Projectors used at the festival are selected on the basis of their capability to display proper SMPTE specified lumens on the screen, as well as the appropriate resolution based on screen size and content.  The 2007 Sundance Film Festival will feature more digital screenings than in any prior year, in a total of fifteen different venues.  Over 100 of the films at this year’s festival were shot using HDCAM and will be screened digitally, on a projector from DPI.

“There is a reason that DPI has been our only provider of digital projectors for the past nine years,” stated Laynee Jones, Sundance Festival Director of Operations.  “As filmmakers continue to adopt the digital medium, they demand only the highest quality projection systems to display their craft.  The superior quality and reliability of the DP products and their staff’s commitment to the success of the festival have kept our audiences engaged and our filmmakers delighted for nearly a decade,” Jones added.

Digital Projection manufactures a wide range of DLP® projection systems for commercial, business and home cinema use.  Many of the units specifically calibrated for the prestigious Sundance Film Festival will be available for purchase after the event.

QMOD-HD Available for Sale and Evaluation

The QMOD-HD HDTV Modulator has been shipping for about two months. The product has been such an overwhelming success, we have difficulty keeping it on the shelf - please call for availability. sales@crwww.com for orders and status, contact Janine Davis to arrange a QMOD demo unit for hands-on testing through our CR dealers. Your area CR independent representatives have demo systems available as well. Feel free to send technical questions to Doug Engstrom.

Making Thunder with QMOD-HD

The Ford Center, home of the NBA Oklahoma City Thunder Basketball team, wanted a more cost-effective solution to broadcast the game in-house over RF. First, the video team hooked their HD system's AJA FS1 to a "Pro" HDTV modulator. Hit with real 19.4 Mbps HDTV game video, the unit failed miserably, unable to keep up with the high bitrate and fast-paced action of HD game video. "Unwatchable," concluded the video team, "the players were like fuzzy objects, with the pixels trying to catch up."
The staff called Dan Nix of AVL System Design in Edmund, OK, for help. He recommended the QMOD-HD, and CR Fedexed a unit to the team so they could broadcast the Friday game. The result? Perfect video, true HD encoding, without artifacts or fuzziesl Like a great basketball shot - nothing but net. The facility team thanks CR for making a product that really does what it promises! Even better, they now own three QMOD-HD HDTV Modulators.

TV One New Products

TV One has a number of new product announcements and I want to pull them all together in one document.

First, the C2-6104 DVI-I Multiviewer has had good success over its first few months. We will be following it with the C2-6204 3G-SDI Multiviewer in January. The C2-6204 will have the same basic features of the C2-6104, but will include 3G-SDI AND DVI-I outputs. List price on both products is $4,900.

The new CORIO Tools Suite is now on the website as a no charge download. This is a vast improvement over its predecessor and can control multiple processors from within one session. Here is the link to it:

Finally, the P2-105 Power Supply has been available for quite some time. This supply has 5 12v outputs rated at 1A each. They will power any of the C2-1000 series, any of the S2 series, and any of the TV One Task products that use 12v. (If you’re not aware, SOME One Task products use 5v.) They will not power the C2-2000 series due to the higher current demands of those products. They have the twist-lock coaxial connectors and will rackmount with the C2/S2 series rackmount kits. Here’s a great way to eliminate some of the rats nest of wires around AC strips and provide a reliable source of power for multiple product installs.
